CHAMBER MUSIC

CELEBRATION

Dorothy Gerber Strings Program

Date & Time

The Chamber Music Celebration planned for March 22 has been postponed.

Description

The Cummings Quartet and DGSP advanced student string quartets offer a Sunday afternoon extravaganza of chamber music featuring Mozart and Smetana on March 22. With the subtitle From my Life, the Smetana quartet is highly expressive and features a virtuoso role for the quartet’s violist, Amanda Smith. The Northern Michigan based quartet will be joined by seven student chamber ensembles from the Dorothy Gerber Youth Orchestra, the Boyne City Junior Orchestra, and the Beaver Island Quartet. The student ensembles will perform arrangements of famous string quartets by Beethoven, Dvorak, Haydn, Schubert, and Vivaldi.

As a special treat, the winners of the 2020 Star Wars-themed Practice Challenge will be announced and awarded at intermission.

The concert is free and open to the public.
